Vendors host 'Dream Wedding' for local couple

A group of 13 regional wedding vendors, from the venue and planner to the florist and photographer, provided a dream wedding to one lucky couple free of charge last weekend. The wedding giveaway, with an approximate value of $60,000, is the end product of a strong desire by this elite group to give one deserving couple the kind of wedding they've always dreamed of but would have otherwise been unable to afford. Jason and Samantha Klickna tied the knot on Saturday, Aug. 28, at Stonewall Golf Club in Gainesville.

"As a group, we take pride in putting together one-of-a-kind weddings for each and every couple and we saw the strain that the recent economic downturn was having on both the couples and the industry," Lisa Schulz, owner of The Posh Planner, said in a written statement. "We decided to take action because we feel strongly that regardless of their financial situation, every couple deserves to have their dream wedding."

Interested couples were asked to fill out an online application, upload a photo and, in 500 words or less, explain why they felt they were the most deserving. The lucky couple was selected by the group more than a year ago. Samantha Crise and Jason Klickna were chosen because they had sacrificed their wedding and life plans to care for Klickna's father, who was cancer stricken.

"I have watched the man I love take such tender care of his father," Crise wrote in her letter. "I myself grew to love his father. He has sacrificed so much and endured so much pain through this battle with his dad. He has shown how loving, patient and caring he can be."

Klickna's father, John, died before the wedding but was remembered with small touches in the ceremony.

Participating vendors at the wedding included Stonewall Golf Club, Lisa Schulz of The Posh Planner, Cleverly Candid Photography, Julia MacInnis Photography, Holly Heider Chapple Flowers, Paperzest, Olivera Music Entertainment, Taylor Made Cakes, Capital Party Rentals, Capitol Chocolate Fountains, My Mobile Salon, Samantha Spittle, Acuity Audiovisual, Reston Limousine, Kenna's Cookies and Dolce Video.

The bride, Megan, had selected a great group of professionals to ensure her day would be perfect.

Her flowers were done by the delightful Linda Merritt, owner of Heaven on Earth.

This arrangement was placed in the foyer.

This was one of the centerpieces. I just love the colors!

The beautiful (and delicious!) wedding cake was made by Lynnette Drake, owner of The Icing Baking Company. Lynnette has recently moved her business to a storefront location! Stop by if you're driving down I-95 in Stafford.

The groom's cake!

The photographer was Martin Torre, owner of Torre Photography. Marty is always moving, capturing those special moments both posed and spontaneous.

Here's a picture of Marty enjoying some delicious imported Belgian Milk Chocolate!

This was the display for the dipping items for the chocolate fountain. Chef Matt Allis at Old Hickory is one of the best! Looks delicious, doesn't it?

A great night! Thank you Megan for including Capitol Chocolate Fountains in your special day!

Here are some pictures from an event we did last Friday.
The kids had a blast! So did we!!

Ok, so I was the biggest kid in the moon bounce. It was fun!! I even went down the slide.

Beni - we had a wonderful time celebrating "Your Day" at school.

Parents, don't worry about kids with a fountain. They are often more well-behaved than adults!

A Day That Changed My Life http://www.chocolatefountainblog.com/index.cfm?postID=110 http://www.chocolatefountainblog.com/index.cfm?postID=110 Wed, 17 Mar 2010 11:09:00 GMT
It was on that day, a Wednesday, that an article appeared on the front page of the Washington Post's Food Section. Take A Dip In The Latest Craze. It was the day that rocked my world. It was all about Chocolate Fountains!

I had spoken to the writer, Janelle Erlichman, in January about the fountains. She had seen our display at the Washington Bridal Showcase at the Patriot Center that month. The lines were long to get a sample of the chocolate; the shrieks of glee were ubiquitous. Not only was Ms. Erlichman a writer but a bride-to-be.

During the months of January, February and early March, I didn't give much thought to the interview as I was busy putting together my business plan and marketing strategy.
After all, with a degree in Marketing and an emphasis in Advertising, I reflected on all that I had learned in college oh so many years before.

I received an email from Ms. Erlichman a couple of days before the article appeared notifying me of its publication date.

And then it happened.

The phone started ringing at 7:30 AM and, truthfully, hasn't stopped since then. A miracle! That's truly what it was. A miracle. No college education, no business plan, no marketing strategy could have prepared me for that day.

6 years have passed and Capitol Chocolate Fountains is so different from what it was then.
We're located in the Hornbaker Business Park, a 2100 square foot office/warehouse location. Our facility has a commercial washing system (CMA-180), holds our inventory of over 40 fountains and our stock of Imported Belgian Chocolate.

The comments that were featured in the article are still heard today! I shall never forget that day and all of its good fortune associated with it.
I thank you, Ms. Erlichman, for the impact you have had on my success. It was about being at the right place at the right time.

For others, I encourage to pursue your dreams, whatever they may be. Whether it's finishing an education, beginning a new career, starting your own business, moving to another city, state or country. Follow your passion and dedicate yourself to it.

Dreams really do come true!
